Can Substitute Teachers Use Discipline Help?

When you’re using the Discipline Without Stress methodology in your classroom, can a substitute teacher step in and lead your class if he or she is not familiar with the discipline help in the book, Discipline without Stress, Punishments or Rewards?

Yes! A substitute teacher does not need to know the discipline system at all for discipline help. Also, I use the term “guest teacher” because of the influence it has on students. Discipline and Visiting Children

Sometimes you may have children in your care for only a short period of time, such as when substitute teaching or when you have children visiting your home. When you are with children for just short bursts of time, is it possible to utilize the Discipline Without Stress approach to make your time together easier and less stressful?

The answer is “yes.” While you may not have time to go over the hierarchy and the various levels of behavior, you can decide to make it a habit to use the three principles of POSITIVITY, CHOICE, and REFLECTION in all your interactions.

Substitute Teachers

A communication to me indicated that it would be difficult to have a substitute fully understand the system if the teacher hadn’t actually read the book.
